Do I Need To Be Referred By A Doctor?
No. You can self refer for an ultrasound examination, but it is advisable to inform
your GP or Midwife that you have arranged for a scan to be performed.
An appointment can be made for you at a convenient time and location. As much
information as possible will be given to you on the day of you appointment regarding
the result of the scan.
A report detailing this information will be given to you following the ultrasound
examination.
Loose, comfortable clothing if possible. The gel that is used is water-based so
washes out of your clothes if it comes into contact with them.
